TOP TIPS

Care for your dress by getting it cleaned asap after the wedding.  The longer you leave stains, the harder it is to get them out.  Ask friends which cleaners they recommend.  Expensive and flash does not always equal good.
Buy a large cardboard box and piles of acid free white tissue - try Morplan or John Lewis.
Lay the top of the dress in the box and place tissue on top.  Fold the sleeves over the tissue.  Add more tissue.  Fold the skirt in, putting tissue between every layer,  so the fabric does not touch.  Pop in a couple of lavender sachets.  Close the box and store in a dry, cool cupboard.
Replace the tissue every few years.  Get the dress out and give it a good shake - moths hate shaking!
And repack.
And please do not leave on a hanger in a polythene bag.  The weight of the skirt can damage the shoulders especially if they are made of lace.  And polythene is really bad for fabric.
And one day maybe your daughter will be wearing your dress..... you never know!
